Happy Father's Day

Happy Father's Day to all the wonderful father's in our lives, we wouldn't be who we are today if it wasn't for you guys. We jumped on board our new light rail train in Escondido and headed for the cool beach in Oceanside. The ride was awesome, very smooth, quiet, clean, cheap and great scenery.

"All aboard."

"Comfy seats."

"Stroller parking for one please."
Once in Oceanside we headed out to the pier and had a great lunch at Ruby's Diner. Yummy chocolate malts reminded me of my dad and those special Sundays. It was a beautiful day. Matt is such an amazing father with tons of patience, the ability to explain things so simply yet firmly and an abundance of coaching skills and love. Who needs action figures and super heros when you can have DAD!

All Stitched Up!

On Saturday, June 14th, Kyle's 9 month birthday, we had a playdate over at Luke's friend Joey's house. Out of the blue Luke walked into a door jam and busted open his eyebrow which required a dash to the ER and 4 stitches. (Of course dad was in cognito at the US Open in Torrey Pines, no cell phones allowed!) So... Auntie Margaret to the rescue. She met us at the ER and played with Kyle while mom and Luke took care of the eyebrow with the doc. Luke was very brave! The eye got pretty swollen but he is good to go and the stitches come out on June 18th. Just another average day in the life of the Hanson family..............

Last Day of School....

Luke's Preschool Class 2008 with Ms. Dori. School's out, school's out..........................
........ well not really, just the regular preschool year is over, June 12 was the last day and end of year Luau. Luke will continue to go through the summer session to give mom a break. It was a great first year of preschool with lots of learning, time outs and new friends. The Luau was tons of fun. They made cupcakes and played games, BBQ'd hot dogs and said farewell to some friends that they won't see over the summer including Luke's "girl friend" Erin. She is a doll and I found the two playing together often when I picked him up from school. The summer program is just filled with fun fun and more fun so he should have a blast!

Yo Ho Yo Ho A Pirates Life For Me....

Ahoy there Mateys, we had this TV box lying around and mom had a great idea to turn it into a pirate ship so Wednesday we got the paints out, painted it up, created a mast and flag from an old dad T-shirt, got out the swords, belts and looted kings crown and set sail. Kyle was hired to swab the decks and drool on the canons. We used wiffle balls for canon balls and a big long piece of wood for our plank. Luckily we didn't run into any storms and turn into shark bait.

Setting sail..............

"I see land!"
"Shiver me timbers Kyle, I see another ship attacking!"

"I love the ocean breeze."

Can You See Our Baby Birds?

This spring we discovered our first bird nest in our back yard buried amongst the bouganvilia bush. Not sure what kind of birds they are, still need to look that up, but they are too cute. There are three of them and we have spent endless hours watching both the mom and dad fly away to catch food and bring it back to feed them. We hear their cries at all hours of the evening and morning and the parents have been very protective swooping at any kind of bird that gets near, even those nasty big black crows. The three have now left the nest and have been practicing flying. We've thoroughly enjoyed watching them grow up!

Stimulating the Economy.....

We have officially done our part in stimulating the economy by purchasing a new flat screen 46 inch Sony Bravia TV. It is a beauty. Matt and I realized this is the first TV purchase for us as a couple, WOW! After being together for 10 years that's pretty amazing. This weekend we'll be painting the wall to mount it on and getting it up there, hopefully we won't run into any issues with our old plaster walls and old house, cross our fingers. We have to get it up in time to see a few Laker/Celtic playoff games. Have YOU stimulated the economy lately?? Let us know how... ;-)
