Fried Twinkies, BBQ Corn, Funnel Cake.... It's Fair Time!

Another good time at the Del Mar Fair, okay it's really the San Diego Fair now but I'm still going to call it the Del Mar Fair. July 5th we walked the fair and enjoyed the usual sights, sounds and smells. Walking thru the animal corrals and feeding sheep, touching a baby cow and little goats was so fun. The pig races and turkey races were a huge hit. The monster trucks are always Luke's favorite and Kyle was into it this year as well but gotta love those ear plugs. We roamed through the kids area with a huge garden of vegetables, bugs, and kiddie rides. Kyle was actually big enough this year to ride a few rides with Luke and he loved it. Grand Judy met us for a while as we walked the flower and woodworking halls. Had to get our special treats to end the day, banana splits, frozen bananas, frozen lemonade and fudge! Eight hours later and we were headed home......

Row row row your boat gently down the stream...

Thank goodness we have ear plugs!

A Pre-4th Celebration at Dad & Carol's

We mosied up to LA on July 3rd to have some pre-4th of July celebrations and to squeeze in some last fun-filled moments with the Devine family. The cousins played together so well, playing baseball on the patio, sharing and not sharing toys. Finnen was glued to Luke and they were best buddies all day. Was so sad to say goodbye.....

Whew, we actually all made it in one Devine family photo, smiling and looking AT the camera.

The Devine kids (I guess we are adults now)..Kevin, Keith, Colin and Jenn

A Family Affair..... Great to See You Keith, Lea, Finn & Silas

We were thrilled to have Keith, Lea, Finn and Silas out from Kansas City for a two week long visit. We were able to get the cousins together at least three times during their visit. They are so darn cute together. June 28 we collected at moms house with Papa, Deb and Jim and the Ferlazzo families making special appearances as well. It was a hot hot day but we mangaged to have a great time just hanging.

Letter Practice

Kyle decided he needed to get a jump start on his school work and practice his letter writing. He has been watching his big brother very closely and wants to be just like him. He's not quite 2 yet but has showed great interest in writing, drawing and coloring.

A Pirate's Life for Me......

....if I can figure out how to get this dang eye patch on. Where do they make these things??? China??

Oh, close enough...

Reptile Day... EWWWW

We have a wonderful library in town that we visit quite often, they have the most awesome programs and fun stuff for kids. June 20th they had a reptile club set up and let kids meander through the lizards, snakes and toads, touching, feeling and learning. Luke loved holding the snakes and watching the African toad snatch up crickets with his long tongue. Kyle tagged along and enjoyed the slithering friends but wouldn't sit still for more than one second so I could get a photo of him. I made it quite clear than a snake is NOT an option for a family pet.

Last Day of Preschool....

Sad day, sad day, the Luke man is growing up. June 11 was his last day of junior kindergarten, this fall he'll be off to the Big School. The year was ended in style with a beach theme party and lots of fun, goodies and friends. We are not quite sure what school Luke will be attending come August, so we may or may not see these friends again, but we will sure treasure the memories of two great years of preschool at Escondido Christian.
