Lakers Rule!!

Welcome back to the NBA Finals Lakers, it's been four long years! Looking forward to an awesome series hopefully with the Boston Celtics. I have been a long time Laker fan and remember the good old days of Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, Fast Breaks, Chick Hearn and Jiggling Jello. Kobe is a stud! Go Lakers!!!

Take Me Out to the Ballgame

May 21st we decided to attend our first Padre game of the season AND first baseball game for Mr. Kyle. We met up with Grandpa Pat and Grandma Carol to celebrate her birthday. The pitiful Padres were playing the St. Louis Cardinals (cheers from Carol and Uncle Keith). We didn't think the game would be very exciting but boy were we wrong. This is the game Chris Young got popped in the face with a line drive and Josh Bard was run over by Pujols. Then Wally Joyner got tossed out of the game, and we had several foul balls hit our way. So it wasn't a dull game after all (Padres did lose big though). Kyle did pretty well, not a kid who is going to sit in your lap for 2-3 hours, he fell asleep for a while, and liked watching all the people. Luke loved every minute. We stayed for the 7th inning stretch and then headed home.

Luke and Mom enjoyed a great bag of peanuts.

Danger Will Robinson.....

Okay, so I think I have the hang of this standing up thing. Hanging out in my crib is now oh so fun, there is so much more stuff to check out. Dad had to lower the mattress one notch, but it looks like it needs to go down one more notch so I don't fall out. I also think I am just going to skip the crawling scene, it's SOO dirty and who wants to be that LOW to the ground anyway when you can be up on two legs and get a better view. At 8 months old I am pulling up on lots of things these days, the chairs, the couch, mom, the coffee table, the high chair. I have had a few spills but it doesn't deter me. I have a feeling I'll be up and walking in no time much to the chagrin of mom.

I couldn't decide this day whether to be happy or sad so I settled on both......

"Oh... life is so hard....." In the words of Uncle Billy,
"Cry me a river!"

In Memory Of......

This Memorial Day our hearts and thoughts go out to all the service men and women who have fallen, who to this day continue to keep this land free and true and to those who will preserve and protect what America stands for in the future.

Below is an excerpt from JOHN A. LOGAN, Commander-in-Chief of the Army, general orders to establish the observance of Memorial Day, the words ring true to this day:

WASHINGTON, D.C., May 5, 1868
We are organized, comrades, as our regulations tell us, for the purpose among other things, "of preserving and strengthening those kind and fraternal feelings which have bound together the soldiers, sailors, and marines who united to suppress the late rebellion." What can aid more to assure this result than cherishing tenderly the memory of our heroic dead, who made their breasts a barricade between our country and its foes? Their soldier lives were the reveille of freedom to a race in chains, and their deaths the tattoo of rebellious tyranny in arms. We should guard their graves with sacred vigilance. All that the consecrated wealth and taste of the nation can add to their adornment and security is but a fitting tribute to the memory of her slain defenders. Let no wanton foot tread rudely on such hallowed grounds. Let pleasant paths invite the coming and going of reverent visitors and fond mourners. Let no vandalism of avarice or neglect, no ravages of time testify to the present or to the coming generations that we have forgotten as a people the cost of a free and undivided republic. If other eyes grow dull, other hands slack, and other hearts cold in the solemn trust, ours shall keep it well as long as the light and warmth of life remain to us.

God Bless America..........

Happy Mother's Day!

Oh the joys of motherhood! Who would have thought that motherhood would be the hardest job in the whole wide world. It is the most amazing, exhausting, fulfilling, messy, challenging, rewarding, exciting, and awe-inspiring thing in the universe. One minute you want to clobber the little guys and the next you want to wrap them up in your arms, fill their cheeks with kisses and never let them go. Each day is a new adventure. Each day is unique. Each day is filled with ups and downs and twists and turns. Each day is an absolute miracle. And the most miraculous thing of all is when you look into your childs eyes you see...... YOU.

Spring Jubilee

Luke's preschool recently put on a Spring Jubilee where the preschool classes performed songs and recited bible verses. It was so cute and quite a production with lights, music and costumes. Luke's class sang a song called When You're a Bug, God Loves You.... "I don't mean to bug you, God loves you! He's got a big, big love for little, little you....." The girls wore red to be ladybugs and the boys wore yellow to be bees. Luke was right in the middle and one of the loudest. It definitely was a heartfelt moment for mom, the little boy is growing up, watch out American Idols.....

The bible verse that the class recited was Mark 12:30 - "Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind and with all your strength."
